Law School Psychological Conditioning — Can’t Eat Tacos Anymore

Tacos.

I used to enjoy having the occasional taco. Heck, they’re cheap, hearty and almost always satisfying. But now, I can’t eat one without thinking about law school finals.

Here’s why: my law school is located close to a bunch of fast food places that serve Mexican food. If ever our students got hungry, we’d get some tacos. This behavior became repetitive around exam time as we’d want to eat quick and cheap to get back to studying. I think I ended up eating tacos (or some form of Mexican food) every school day for at least 2-3 weeks.

Now, I’m conditioned to have a slight heart attack upon seeing tacos. It makes me feel guilty with the thought that I should be hitting the books.
