Who would have thought the vision into the future of the iPhone would begin in Redwood City? The next generation prototype iPhone fell into the hands of a Gizmodo editor after an Apple engineer left the prototype in a Redwood City bar while celebrating his birthday. This isn’t the typical situation where you can’t find your cell phone and the worst thing that will happen is you’re out a few hundred dollars or whatever your insurance policy is. This lost cell phone launched a full blown investigation which included a plea from Apple CEO Steve Jobs urging for the return of the iPhone and a search and seizure of Gizmodo’s editor Jason Chen’s home.
