I think most can agree that frats in undergrad weren’t a terrible idea. It was an ideal way to make thousands of instant friends that claimed to be your ‘brothers’ and would do anything for you, or anything for a Bud Light, one or the other. So why is it that there aren’t frats/sororities in law school? There are things like Phi Alpha Delta, but let’s be honest, it’s no frat. Yeah, it may be a little time consuming and you may be a little distracted with fraternity obligations, a.k.a. constant parties and mid afternoon trips to Dennys for a hangover solution, BUT there are benefits to this as well. The endless amount of study partners, constant debates, not just whether the cups are filled to regulation and best of all, a constant excuse to blow off some of that law school frustration and angst. And the single most important thing in life, networking, would be amplified for students entering law schools in states where they have no connections. What’s stopping law students from creating institution related or non-institution related fraternities and sororities and making law school a little more fun? There are thousands of still very impressionable young minds entering law school campuses around the country each fall. Am I the only one that thinks this is an excellent idea?
