MLB Looking More Like The NHL as of Late.

What’s happening in the MLB? First the Cardinals and Reds and now Francisco Rodriguez goes postal on his “father-in-law” and is being charged with assault and harassment. All this happening within the last few days is putting an interesting spin on this season. The Red and Cardinals incident which was sparked by a Reds players comments and then the subsequent tapping Yadier Molinas shin guard prior to an at-bat, is much more understandable, but still not warranted. Was it just me, or did the benches clear way too quickly? I don’t think Molina had a chance to say more than three expletitives before the benches came soaring and the ensuing fight took place. Of course the result is a few suspensions, some fines and a concussion or two, no actual legal issues so it doesn’t fall under this sites focus I guess.

Francisco Rodriguez attacking his father-in-law after a loss on Wednesday is much more pertinent as he has formally been charged with third degree assault and second degree harassment after he pulled Carlos Pena (father in law) out of the family lounge and into a nearby tunnel and proceeded to hit him in the face and slam his head against the wall, this according to ESPN.com. Not only is there no current explanation, other than the Mets having another dismal seasons, but there is no common sense explanation for why a major league pitcher would feel the need to go into the family lounge, pull out a relative and proceed to pummel them in a nearby tunnel and then “take off”. What does this mean for K-Rod? I guess we’ll find out September 13th when he is ordered to be back in court.
